It’s the spring of 1902. Mr. William James Anchor and Mrs. Rebecca Lee Anchor have been married for twenty-five years and their marriage seemed perfect by all outside appearances but appearances can often times be deceiving. While they were never able to conceive any biological children of their own, they did start an orphanage several years earlier. This way they
could surround themselves with many children at once, all who needed a home with loving parents. Hoping this would fill the void they felt in their hearts, William and Rebecca began filling their home as quickly as they could with children of all ages. It was several years since the first opening of Red Anchor Orphanage’s doors that Rebecca started to notice William was
giving the children all the extra attention he once showed her. Especially one little girl in particular, not much older than five years old, named Mary Margaret. She captured the hearts of the Anchor’s from the moment she entered the orphanage and all the other children adored her as well. Many of the townspeople looked to Mary Margaret as the Anchor’s child and
seemed to show her more attention than any of the other children the Anchors were supporting. Their daily routine would start with Rebecca teaching etiquette classes in the mornings and cleaning the house along with all the clothing or bedding in the afternoons. William did some maintenance repairs when required but for the most part he could be caught having fun and playing with the children or reading to them. This only infuriated Rebecca to no end because she felt as though William favored the children more than her; his own wife. A deep jealousy grew inside her until it eventually turned into resentment and in order to release that rage that had slowly been growing within her soul, Rebecca started killing the children. And so, one by one, the children started disappearing and Rebecca started disposing of their
bodies behind William’s back. This did not continue for long though. On one late fall day the children, who all knew what Rebecca had been up too, decided to join together to kill her. In killing Rebecca, her physical body died but her soul was unleashed onto the grounds of the orphanage property. In continuing her misdeeds of vengeance, Mrs. Anchor still haunts the
orphanage all while still attempting to kill all the children living inside. This has caused problems for William because the townspeople spread word of the haunted orphanage to any and all once potential buyers of the property. To not be left destitute and abandon all the children, Mr. Anchor sets out to keep protecting all the children against his beloved Rebecca.
